At our last IAEI Chapter meeting here in Michigan I heard from the podium a rather acceptable definition of tub and shower space. It was stated that the footprint and up to the ceiling of these items represent the area that we need to respect when it comes to switches and receptacles. I like it :-)

Sounds like common sense to me. Oh wait we use the NEC.
