i have a basement pool job. the gfi receptacle's furthest distance is 6' from the pool edge {which i'll feed via gfi breaker, as all the lighting switches are also there 680.22(B)(4)}

this was built this way, not an afterthought, just checking if i'm kosher here i guess...

680.22(A)(4) Restricted Space. Where a pool is within 3.0 m (10 ft) of a dwelling and the dimensions of the lot preclude meeting the required clearances, not more than one receptacle outlet shall be permitted if not less than 1.5 m (5 ft) measured horizontally from the inside wall of the pool.

HB commentary;

The receptacles within the structure are permitted to be less than 10 ft from the pool. Where this installation is at a dwelling unit, it is necessary to provide at least one receptacle between 10 ft and 20 ft from the inside walls of the pool

The commentary you quoted does not apply to the code section noted. If your lot precludes the receptacle from being installed between 10 and 20 feet from the pool, then it is permissible to install a receptacle between 5 and 10 feet to satisfy 680.22(A)(3).

Earl

I think (4) should be made a subsection of (3), as it applies only to that sub-section.

does this apply to inside a dwelling as well as outside?

That is a good question. My opinion is the restricted lot requirements would conform to this pool, but I am not your AHJ. I would ask him to be sure.
