Guide Information for Electrical Equipment for Use in Ordinary Locations

Listing of electric fence controllers signifies that the fire and electric shock hazards incident to their use have been reduced to a reasonable degree provided installation and operation are in accordance with the name plate information.

Listed electric fence controllers are intended for use with conductive fences, insulated from ground, for control of animals.

Requirements for the operation of electric fence controllers provide for intermittent energizing of the fence when currents of sufficient magnitude to prevent voluntary breaking of contact are involved. An "off" period between impulses is provided in which voluntary muscular control can be regained and contact with the fence broken. It should be recognized that failure to break contact with the fence, due to other than electrical causes, may dangerously increase the hazard attending the use of these devices.

For listing purposes, electric fence controllers are classified according to the source of supply of the unit and the intended installation.

The basic standard used to investigate products in this category is UL69, "Electric Fence Controllers" .

The Listing Mark of Underwriters Laboratories Inc. on the product is the only method provided by UL to identify products manufactured under its Listing and Follow-Up Service. The Listing Mark for these products includes the name and/or symbol of Underwriters Laboratories Inc. (as illustrated in the Introduction of this Directory) together with the word "LISTED", a control number, and the following product name "Electric Fence Controller".

Just to set the record straight, have a great day!
