Is it me, or has anyone noticed a change in the bonding requirements for electric parts? In the 96 code I thought that you could use the pool rebar as a common bonding grid for the bonding of NON electric parts only. The wording of the 02 code leads me to believe that the rebar is OK for the common bonding grid of electric parts. The handbook has pictures to indicate this is true. Any comments?
I believe that the rebar has always been the main bonding grid in the '96-'99-and the '02 NEC code books. One thing that I did see is that in the '99 NEC the book mentions rebar that has a coating on it. Then the rebar would not be considered good for bonding. Is that what you mean?
Harold I thought the 96 code stated that rebar was a common bonding grid for NON electrical parts that required bonding. The 02 code does not mention anything about NON electrical parts. I do not know if it changed in 99 or 02 as we never adopted the 99, & I never purchased a 99 book. I don't have any books in front of me now, and I won't be looking into this anytime soon as I am leaving for 2 weeks tomorrow early AM. Rick
