Are there NICET certifications for Electricians? (National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies) A Fire Alarm Technician working for Simplex Company is required to have a NICET Level 2. I'm not familiar with that kind of certification. Is it geographic? I'm from Pennsylvania.

Nicet is becoming more requested in commercial fire alarm and fire protection type specifications. Some local jurisdictions are discussing requiring a NICET level 3 people in the appropriate discipline (fire alarm or fire protection) to sign off on associated drawings going for permit. http://www.nicet.org/
