A new home with 3 garage door openers(5 amps each)and 3 keyless lampholders wired to a single 20 amp circuit is a violation.
Correct?

A garage door opener wouldn't be considered continuous load, so you could load a 20 amp breaker to 20 amps of non-continuous load. What is a keyless lampholder?

Ron,

I don't believe continuous or intermittent enters into the consideration of 210.23(A)(2).

Redsy,
Sorry I didn't look at the article number you referenced before dribbling at the keys. Seems you have a valid concern.

What is your maximum wattage listed on the keyless fixtures?

Probably 100? I have seen 200 watt bulbs used in a lampholderthough!

See this UL site when questions concerning a product arise.

Joe, the keyless fixtures we use are rated at 660W-250V. OUCH! We usually bulb them out at 100W.

(11) Other Outlets. Other outlets not covered in 220.3(B)(1) through (10) shall be computed based on 180 volt-amperes per outlet.

x3= 540W

(2) Utilization Equipment Fastened in Place. The total rating of utilization equipment fastened in place, other than luminaires (lighting fixtures), shall not exceed 50 percent of the branch-circuit ampere rating where lighting units, cord-and-plug-connected utilization equipment not fastened in place, or both, are also supplied.

5 A x 3= 15 A .....( you've already blown it, sorry...)

Minor program notes...

"Keyless" for these lampholders means "sans pull-chain switch."

A "suicide adapter" refers to one with the plainly visible green-wire tail that could readily contact the adapter's male ungrounded blade and "heat up" an otherwise floating [but intended to be grounded] appliance case. Nowadays, the connection is a rigid-metal forked tab. IIRC, either type of adapter has never been permitted in Canada…id est, if you have a u-ground cord cap, it must be plugged only into a u-ground receptacle. {Corrections gladly accepted.}
