City of Seattle
Reviewing 2002 NEC and WAC rules
Supports use of NM cable > 3 floors
Will adopt 2002 NEC first quarter 2003
State of Oregon
Will adopt the 2002 NEC Oct 1, 2002
AFCI’s required for Hotels & Motels
Using 1999 NEC for NM cable
State of Alaska
Adopt 2002 NEC effective September 25, 2002.
Continuing education was 16 hours code for 2 year renewal, now will be 8 hours code, 8 hours industrial related
Some jobs are already under 2002 NEC depending on start date of job.
City of Anchorage, Alaska
Adopt the 2002 NEC “soon”.
State of Montana
Adopt 2002 NEC by Jan 2003. Local Jurisdictions to follow.
Adopt 2002 AFCI requirements and NM cable requirements
State of Idaho
Adopted 2002 NEC July 1, 2002.
Smoke detectors do not have to be on AFCI
1 year to 3 year licensing
16 hours continuing education to 24 hours, but can be 8 hours industrial

Will adopt the 2003 NEC January 1, 2003, with no amendments
