You probably want something like SEOW cord—sunlight resistant, wet-rated, flexible at cold temperatures, and generally suitable for use outdoors. Related article: http://www.nmsu.edu/~tdi/cc66.pdf
The trailer-mounted generator set may need a receptacle and cover that is for “wet location while in use.”
A 3R hinged-cover can nippled to the transfer switch for not-in-use storage of supply cord has worked well for me. It's likely someone has to approach the set for startup and shutdown anyway.
{The flex seems like a misapplication—I don't think it could effectively protect the supply cord from sunlight deterioration. IMO, a sunlight-resistant grade is mandated for the duty at hand.
