I am working on a new product which would fall under the NEC. However, my expertise is on a different field so I would need professional advice on the NEC side. Can I consult an electrical inspector, or some organization ? How would I get in touch with them ?

Marc,

Is this an Electrical component? Mechanical? or Fitting, Enclosure? .. I was thinking It may be worth joining a Mailing List of the IEEE. I belong to several. They seem to be very knowledgable on a variety of things and often help each other with questions pertaining to regulatory compliance of products. They may be able to lead you in the right direction.
