Can anyone cite the NEC Section(s) that do not allow for termination of two branch circuit wires (hots) on a single circuit. Keep in mind that the load does not exceed the circuit breaker rating.

There is no NEC article, it's more of a "listing" and "rating" deal.

Take a look at 110-14(a).

Some circuit breakers, most notably Square D QO in 15, 20 & 30 amps are listed and labeled for 2 conductors per terminal, but they are the only ones that I know of.
