680-6(d) Motors other than Dwelling units.
Wiring supplying pool pump motors rated 15 and 20 amps, 125 V or 240V, single phase, whether by receptacle or direct connection, shall be provided with ground-fault circuit interupter protection for personnel.

Ok fine, i do a call to a municipal pool who's 3-phase motor has taken many a bath in the pump house due to bad pipes, only to find that #1-no GFI #2-NEC says to H____with it & #3-can't get a 3 ph GFI

So does 3 ph power somehow mix with H2O safer?

Would you swim in this?

sparky,I don't understand the code myself, and off the subject but here is another kicker that makes no sense in a public pool there is a minium and maxium amount of chlorine that can be in the water however in your drinking water there is a minium but no max on the chlorine,I have seen children actually bleached out from chlorine in our drinking water this is from bathing in it makes no sense

I'm trying to look up old ROP's on this, as it did not exist before '99. Call me paranoid, but i'd rather have GFI protection on this, if it exists. [Linked Image]
