I have a complex heat mat configuration for a custom bath that needs to use 3 mats on 1 t-stat. For one of the mats, I am going to run the lead through a wall at the floor to get into the room for the t-stat. Normally the tile guy sets the mat and can run as much as 12' lead around the perimeter of the heated area to get to the sleeve that gets the lead up the wall and to the t-stat.
The wire is made up of (2) insulated conductor that is wrapped with a braided ground to activate the GFI if the cable is faulted through. I'm wondering, would that allow me to stick a nonbonded 5" EMT sleeve through the wall since any induced voltage would travel down the braided ground?
