Hello
This is my first post here. I have a question about garbage disposers. My boyfriend just moved into an Apt. The switch for the disposer in located 37” from the edge of the sink, it’s not even over the counter, its located in the wall above the stove. Can anyone tell me if this is a code violation, if so what one. It seems to me this would be unsafe.

Sorry - no code violation - the code, with few exceptions, allows you to put the switch anywhere you want (like across the room from the entrance!)

I for one, certainly don't like the idea of having the GD switch in the same box as a light switch, Code compliant or not.
Although my wife's lived in this house for nearly 15 yrs., she or I will often turn on the GD when meaning to turn on the downlight above the sink. (They're both in a box-above-counter, within easy reach of the sink)
The possibilities scare me. [Linked Image]

dana, electure,
I'm with you both. You would think that the person who installed that switch, if given the chance, would take their own brain out and play with it. Go figure.
