It's getting pretty hot here in the desert and I have been getting a LOT of attic work. I was thinking of buying a cooling vest. Do any of you have any experience with these? The pricing varies a lot on the different brands, but StaCool claims to be the best.

Used them on the bike and they worked good. The pricey ones worked the best but for attic work I think I would get a cheep one first because the dirt may be a problem. Let us know how it works out for you. Rod

Did you have the kind with the cold packs or the kind you soak in water?

I've used the kind you soak in water. Has to be dry out, these probably don't work in the midwest. They worked pretty well, kept the body temp down.

A better idea may be to see if you can do your attic work at 5-8 in the morning. I know of a few HVAC companies that do this, and the early riser customers don't mind it a bit. Actually, they like it because they don't have to take time off work to let the guys in.
