Was curious to know if (2) soda machines set in the middle of a room could be wired with flexible cord attached to a twist-lock receptacle attached to the ceiling grid of a suspended ceiling. Would 400.7 (A)(6) cover me?

They may want some independent support of the box. Running an extra support wire or two should calm that fear.

'Cord' cannot be used for permanent wiring methods. That said, IF you have a vend with a cord long enough to reach your receptacle, no problem.

IF you are proposing a twistlock to cord to a 1900 box that the machine cord will plug into; that does not fly.

Dependent on the ceiling height, you may want to consider a power pole, or IMC/RGC from ceiling to floor with the recept(s) installed therein.

By the way vending machines require GFCI protection if integral or by the branch circuit.

Wouldn't a permanently installed cord hanging from a box to a female cord cap be explicitly permitted by 400.7(A)(1)?

Perhaps I missed what he was trying to do. I was thinking the receptacle was in a box, attached to the grid and it was connected with an article 300 wiring method above the ceiling (MC whip or something).
