I was doing some work today for API (air quality samplers) They have portable rooms to ship to other country's (China in this case). Had to temp power 5 units with a gen. 230V 50Hz. Two rental places would not rent a gen set. The one that did said they set it up to specs. They got the 50Hz right but had 240V phase to phase. I had to make some minor adjustments but it works great. Last week it was an industrial bailer set for 230V 50Hz. Is more stuff coming over with odd (for us) power requirements? I love my job something new every day. Rod

OK, only standard US voltages, 120 to 480, but the interesting part is we're working on the set-up for the 2005 PGA Championship Golf Tournament for 8/8 to 8/15/2005. Lots of gens, 50 kw to 1 mw. Lots of "tents" from 1000 SF to 28KSF+; trailers and a bunch of other goodies.

LTR we have had to wire a couple of places with both 60 and 50 cycle systems, I do not remember the 50 cycle voltage.

John That sounds pretty cool, I like doing things like that. [Linked Image]

Right now I am helping power up a small part of an "Ozzfest"

http://www.ozzfest.com/main.html

Kind of as far from a PGA event as one can be [Linked Image] but it has been interesting.

Tomorrow while I am working in the catwalks they will be doing a full run through.

It will be a hearing protection day. [Linked Image]

Daily for final 3 days is $90 Gen Adm.
Wanamaker Club is $400
A corporate chalet 'base' is $180K; the 'upgrade' is $195K.
I'll get a gen count in a few days....at least 80 as of Monday.
I have some pics...more to take as it progresses...
Send me an e-mail with an address and I'll burn you a disk! (You're a Sq D I-Line guy, right??) (24 on site; 1200-1600 amp, 3Rs,)

John

PS: Heard a rumor today....'Final Round' Sunday 8/8/05; daily tickets are going for $450.00!!!!

livetoride, it sounds like they're using the new 230v European standard voltage, which if I recall correctly is 230 +/- 10%, in order to allow it to work on 240 in the UK, and 220 most everywhere else [Linked Image]
Probably simpler for them to do than make a 220 version, 230 for europe, 240 for australia, etc.
