Funny how the inspectors amongst us favor a fictional Mafia Don. Maybe they can relate to "shakedowns" and "offers that can't be resisted?" :-)
As for me, I'll settle for Bond...James Bond. Nothing beats a little gratuitous sex and violence! (from "Never say Never Again")

Can't watch a movie like that on tv. Commercials and editing stink. I hear you Scott, actually I am watching the Godfather on TV right now and it plays OK on TV. IMO the story still stands up. Now Casino on the other hand is pretty much trashed on TV. Hearing Joe Pesci saying "Forget You" 50 or so times just does not have the same impact.

Let's see... Here are a few, in no particular order:
Fantasia The Sound of Music T*A*P*S Mel Brooks' Young Frankenstein The Shawshank Redemption Dogma The Firm Free Enterprise The Replacements My Cousin Vinny Ice Age Shrek II
I agree whole-heartedly with Scott, who said: "For any movie fan you MUST have a decent home theater setup and as big a screen as possible."
Is 10 feet diag. large enough? We have a CRT front-projection setup, and a 7-channel, 2200-watt surround-sound system.
As for TV:
Dick Van Dyke M*A*S*H All in the Family LA Law Cheers Hill St. Blues Star Trek (original)
There are so many more of both movies and TV shows than I can remember right now, but these are the ones that come to mind.

I prefer French films. We get the 'arte' channel on cable here, and there is something good every week.
Of the English films my most-watched are old Ealing comedies such as The Ladykillers, School for Scoundrels, The Green Man and so on.
Withnail and I is good.
We watched a very good one the other day called "Woman on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown", I'd never watched it before but it is quite well-known apparently; it was very well-written and very funny.
I never watch the television in the evening except occasionally the news and weather; I'd rather read a book or do a crossword, and listen to the radio.

Twelve Monkeys - You Hi-Fi buffs may remember this movie. A 1995 movie with Bruce Willis, Brad Pitt, and Madeline Stowe. The movie didn't do to well, but I did have a job working on that movie. You really get a different perspective on movies and what's happening on screen. The work was in Philly and Baltimore with the Special Effects Department. It was an experience, but NOT fun. Great cheese steaks and pretzels in Philly
Favorites: Jaws, Star Wars(10 times!?), Shawshank Redemtion, Hollywood Knights, Porky,s TomL

Speaking of tv , not to threadjack, but how about tv shows? I suggest that we take that question up in it's own thread. https://www.electrical-contractor.net/ubb/Forum1/HTML/006033.html [This message has been edited by iwire (edited 06-19-2005).]

Good idea Bob, I should have thought of that. Larry I would think a 10' screen is sufficient. I have a 65" CRT rear projection that is great. One of these days I'll surprise the wife with a front projection in the 100" range.
