has anyone had experience with these dimmable florescents that screw into a regular incandescent bulb socket? (medium base?) are they noisy? the quieter the better. any manufacturers to watch out for? i can get them in ENERGY STAR, Greenlite, TCP, Maxlite, and Westinghouse.

I had no idea that anyone made a CFL replacement with a Medium Base adapter, which was Dimmable!

Who would have guessed! [Linked Image]

Do they work with standard Incandescent Lamp type Dimmers?

Phillips has been making a compact flourescent that dims for about a decade I think. I used them on one house with about 40 recessed cans when the customer saw them on HGTV and requested the same. Since this was an archetect (spelling off) designed house I made him sign off on my disclaimer since I could find no appropriate listing for this lamp in halo recess cans. I did that job in 1998 and the records are in storage now so I am unable to get you the cat number at present.
