I was asked about an exit sign but was unable to find the answer in the NEC.

Question is: The carpenters are building an office inside of the machine shop for the tool pusher and warehouse clerks. Does this room require any type of exit signs leaving it going into the main shop? I don't think it required base only on what I have seen here in the shop. It appears that the only doors that have these signs are the doors that lead outside of the main shop into the open enviroment. Hopefully I'm close to the right track. Any insight here would be helpful.

Thanks, Bert

Exit signs and emergency lighting requirements are usually found in the building code and fire codes.

Without simplifying it too much, if the room is less than 3000 sqaure feet, you probably won't need emergancy lighting and exit signage.
