Do any of you install central vac systems? I just installed one in my own house and I think it would be an easy sell on some new houses.

Scott, I worked for an EC years ago that installed Central Vacs, I think he did well doing it.

I also heard of some EC's in FL installing some type of central bug control tubing, may be another hot item in some places. [Linked Image]

Central bug control tubing??
that was and is my reaction.

I was told (it actually makes sense) that a tubing some what similar to a soaker hose (perforated along its length) is run in the walls with an outlet that an exterminator can attach a tank to, and in a small scale fumigate these walls. If you are familiar with the termites, roaches, palmetto bugs, etc... in FL it makes perfect sense. [Linked Image]

We've been doing central vac's for years. It's been doing so well, we even opened a vacuum store.

It's always good to expand your horizons. c-vacs, alarms, telephone work, network wiring...it's an excellent sideline to the electrical side of the business and customers/builders love it.

Thanks for the info. Nice website Sandro. I am thinking I will try to sell some installations. There are guys that do this kind of work already along with other things such as intercoms, alarms, lv work etc. What kind of money can you make with this kind of work. Can I charge my full rate as a Master Electrician to install vac systems? What about markup on the units and accesories? Probably things I should know before I jump in headfirst.
