I'll use the excuse for posting that this relates to an electrical appliance. ![[Linked Image]](https://www.electrical-contractor.net/ubb/wink.gif) The BBC, the lost tape and the 6-foot fridgeBy Lester Haines Published Thursday 17th June 2004 13:45 GMT We gather that things do not run as smoothly as they should down at BBC Bristol. Apparently, someone in London recently sent an urgent video tape via courier which duly arrived in the post room at said outpost of The Corporation. One of the operatives therein - noticing that the label was peeling off - decided to replace it with a new one. He removed the original and stuck it on the fridge, intending to copy the address after lunch. The next morning, the sender of the tape was surprised to find this voice message (mp3) on his mobile. Odd that they would say "6 foot" fridge in a metric country... Then again if the USA went metric, would it be a "9.14 meter" penality for roughing the ref? Or "1st and 9.14m"? American football.

That's pretty cool Paul. To me she does not sound as surprised as I would expect someone to sound that received a refrigerator in place of a tape. It would not happen here, non of the courier services I know handle that large of a package. Bob

Odd that they would say "6 foot" fridge in a metric country... Not really, but you've hit a sore point there. Officially we may be metric (with a couple of exceptions: miles on the roads, and beer in pints in the pub!), but if you ask anyone here how tall he is, you'll get an answer in feet and inches -- The units we grew up with. That's despite the bullies in the government's Dept. of Intimidation who have treated people as criminals for daring to continue to measure things in English units.
