Is there any thing in the NEC about the min. height that the blades are from the floor. Is a ceiling hugger type allowed on a 7' ceiling? I've never put one that low.
Thanks

read the instructions that come with the fan. seems like 7'6" or 7' to the bottom of fan(including the light) is a figure that sticks in my memory bank.... i see ceiling huggers on back porches and OLD trailers built back in very late 60s and thru the early 80s with 7'2" ceilings....forget the light kit....am also not saying its ok....

680.22(B) gives some limits for fans located in pool areas: Minimum 7' 6" over an indoor pool if GFI protected.

Although not stated in the code, a good general rule is higher than a hair-cut.

Most inspectors in my area won't allow fan blades to be any closer then 7' to the floor. Not sure if that's in the NEC or not....
