I intend to run a circuit to the back corner of the yard to power a waterfall pump, underwater light and low voltage lighting. I plan on using a 20a GFI circuit breaker, as well as two 20a GFI recepts on the way to the corner of the yard and two more 20a GFI recepts in the corner of the yard. I realize that the GFI circuit breaker protects everything on the load side, and that the GFIs halfway to the corner protect the rest, but I thought it would be best to have plenty of backup with all GFIs.

Is it necessary these days to have a GFI circuit breaker to feed power to run a garden pool pump and light? If I use a GFI circuit breaker, is it necessary to have all 4 GFIs on the circuit, seeing that the circuit is GFI protected? I'd prefer to have all GFIs, but is it necessary?

You might consider a GFCI breaker so that you can use column 4 of table 300.5 for less burial depth.
