I went to "The Vet" in Philadelphia when I was little. Anybody else remember it?

It's gone. In just a few minutes the home of the Phillies and the Eagles for more than 30 years has been reduced to rubble. About 3,000 pounds of explosives took down Veterans Stadium, section by section in a clockwise direction as loud booms rang out. "Ladies and gentlemen, you just witnessed history," team announcer Dan Baker told the cheering crowd of several hundred people.

I've never been to Pennsylvania, but as a football fanatic I must say that I will miss the Vet.

Show me another stadium in the world that actually has a court and jail built in it to detain fans [Linked Image]

I've been to the Vet to many times to count. Being a Cincinnati Reds fan my greatest memory would have to be on July 19,1978. I was 12 years old and the Phillies were hosting the Reds.

At the start of the game Pete Rose had a 31 game hitting streak going. The Phillies kept Rose hit-less until the 9th inning. Pete bunted and reached first to keep his hitting streak alive. He went on to tie a National League record 44 games with a hit.

What a great game and the Reds won 7-2.

I'm looking forward to visiting the new stadium very soon. The Phillies open with the Reds and I plan on being there. Not opening day though...I refuse to pay $300 per ticket on E-bay.

Go Reds
