According to what I understand in the code, an outside hot tub must be the same wiring methods as a swimming pool in regards to being wired in "rigid metal conduit, intermediate conduit, or nonmetallic rigid conduit etc... Am I correct in this interpertation??? Thanks Steve....

That's correct except for 680.42(A)(1) that permits the use of liquidtight flex in lengths not longer than 6ft. for packaged or self-contained spas or hot tubs.

I thought that any Chapter 3 method like NM-B could be used for the interior portion of the circuit until it hits the disco. Then it would need to switch methods and have an insulated ground wire.

NM can be used for the interior portion provided the ECG is not smaller than No. 12 per 680.42(C)
