It seems to me that a large number of the goof ups that I see could be avoided if the installers would only read the obvious things in front of their eyes, and the directions provided with the equipment.

But they just throw it in.

Anybody else run into this?

Of course! It is human nature. Some of us take pains to do a good job, others take pains to do the least amount possible.

No truer words were written! Failure to follow mfg instructions is a real pain in the butt. There's a thread on this going at the 'other' forum.

Add to not reading, a seeming lack of 'common sense' and you have a situation!

A little extra time spent reading and thinking about an install, usually means a trouble free install.

Another thing I've learned is to make sure you don't start taking parts and pieces out of the box or shipping container until you're ready to do the job, otherwise you wind up with lost or missing parts.

Thanks, John!
I'll check it out. I've barely enough time to check out what's going on here, much less the "other" guys.

As Red Green once said, " Reading the instructions isn't like asking for help. It's cheating."

Since many will cheat when they think they can get away with it, I'm surpised that more guys don't read the instructions.

I went to the "other" place, and now I remember why I don't go there
Some goofball saying there's nothing wrong with working hot, and that he doesn't mind getting bit by 120 at all. iwire was the only one that even dissented. (good, Bob)
In addition, the fact that I responded once to a newsletter, only to see my entire e-mail come back to me verbatim in a subsequent newsletter (cut & paste)doesn't help.
Thanks, I'll stay here...S

Thanks but some others protested too.

That aside I think Hotline was referring to this other forum.

Look far enough and the issue of directions comes up.
