Can someone guide me to some info or any thoughts on this.Seems I remember reading in either OSHA regs or the CFR'S that e-stops are that period for emergency not for starting and stopping equipment . I have always taught it to be that way as if you use it for anything else then it is not an E-STOP talk to me

that's my understanding, although I cannot substantiate it. I would think any additional stops not directly related to the equipment operator would be an E-stop.There is also the matter of where, say along a conveyor belt, it should be. Last one I saw had a wire above the belt made to an E-stop.

You may want to look at NFPA 79 Industrial Machinery.

LET me rephrase this .I understand that an E-STOP is for emergenecy stops only and cannot be used for general use of shutting equipment down say for lunch or break times, have seen so many people use them for this purpose but do not know if there is any kind of rule or code but thought there was
