First thanks to all here-this site a great tool in the 'bag'.
Met with owner who is making play pen in basement.Lighting store wants to sell him $130 ea. master switches and it just starts there.Space is 30'x50' and his goal is to control as many fixtures possible with fewest units.Remote a must, but for the limited space there must be cheaper alternatives.Your thoughts?
Next;Owner also sez he burns bulbs quickly
and always has.I didn't have diagnostic time
but starting rough in tomorrow and I'm thinking something simple;loose service conn.somewhere.Again you're take? Thanks

Most homeowners think they blow bulbs too often. Usually they just use them alot or have cheap bulbs. First check the voltage, if it's over 120, then the problem is most likely the voltage. If they use 130volt bulbs the problem will go away.

As for your switch question, we really need more info.

If it were me I would let the lighting store sell him whatever they want. I would not get in the middle unless I knew alot about the product they were selling or I had a better idea that I was 100 percent sure about. Lightolier has some systems as does Lutron whatever the case it won't be cheap. As for the bulbs loose neutrals, cheap bulbs, weird voltage, paranoid customers, all are possible factors.

Check out Leviton Home controls. They're wireless You can program up to like 126 loads. Have used them very successfully with security lighting. Control lights in garage with out running any cables. Also X-10 system.
