My contention is that a steam humidifier (Carel model UE015XWOU1) can be considered a continuous load. This model is listed at 11.25 kw, 31.2 amps, 208 volts, three phase. 125% of 31.26 amps (figured from kw rating) is 39 amps. The inspector is allowing this load to be carried by an existing set of 10 thhn wires (35 amps in the 75 degree column). This is even neglecting the overfilled-with-16-C.C.C. pipe (50% derating) that these wires arrive in from the panel. Any comments?

BTW, I neglected to add: 50% of 40 amps (90 degree column) results in only 20 amps

My guess is '#10 at 35 amps, (didn't think continuous) nameplate says 31.2; OK'

May not have seen # of conductors in branch circuits conduit.

BTW, what is/was the outcome??
