Hmm... it seems like a semi-legitimate (maybe a CYA letter?)

The title was "NOTICE OF DATA BREACH", and states: "There was no delay in providing you this notification as a result of law enforcement investigation" it offers some credit monitoring which I can sign up for free ... (NOT!!) and then some Gov't Links and related advice how to protect myself from identity theft.

It didn't ask me for anything, so I don't know. My next door neighbor got the same letters, so ???

The "free" data monitoring is the thing that would worry me. To get that they need a lot of personal identification like your SS# DOB and such. I would only do that if you could navigate to Life Lock or whatever on your own and enter some kind of validation code. I would not trust any link they gave me.

No, I didn't take them up on the data monitoring. For all I know that could have been the whole purpose behind the letter.
