snow melting systems

Has anyone every installed a snow melting system? We have installed one system and have 3 other places on campus that have the snow melt already in operation. I am wondering if it is wise to have a thermostat besides having your cti control for turning the system on.

We have installed systems with thermostats and moisture sensors. Covers all the bases.
