Yup Steve Gibson has quite a few security tools on GRC.
I let them look me over about once a month.,

Shields up will probe all the ports on your computer and see what you are exposing to the internet. It is basically a function of the firewall. An XP system (and beyond) set to the default should be invisible.
If you poke around there it can test other things.
