I know this must have been asked before but I cannot find information. Table 19 nmd90 used in dry and damp locations, note 15. What is thermoplastic jacket? I am running #6 to pony panel in a pool shed, using pvc pipe underground 30 feet, under a deck for 10 feet then into house. Any suggestions?
I think an underground raceway is a wet location. You can't put nmd90 in a wet location. ("d" is for dry?). Pulling a cable into a raceway is controversial. It seems you can put it in a water line but some inspectors won't allow it in pvc, because pvc is a raceway and a water line isn't.
I would probably use teck and direct bury. teck is good for anything, including rodents. The other option is nmwu.
Thanks for the replies. I guess the main thing is pipe underground is wet location. I guess under a deck which the board are tight together would also be wet location. I did not get the Table 19 nmd90 note 15. All nmd90 has thermoplastic jacket on the wire, so why mention it?
Older NM cable has paper and tar type insulation. Not sure if it was called NMD90 though. It had names like NMD7. There is probably no requirement for it to be thermoplastic and possibly someone could make it the old way.
