One of the inspectors in the county south of us came up with this beauty. 480v tap using an innovative method but at least he got the colors right. (From Bryan Holland) ![[Linked Image from gfretwell.com]](http://gfretwell.com/electrical/480v%20tap.jpg)

Yup that is like a KupLTap. The problem is they don't have one that taps a 600MCM with a #14 I guess.

How about this scene... Load of this made up, ring terminal made up, screw in ring, and a screw gun.

I suppose turning off the power first would be out of the question.

Seems to be common practice... I've seen a very similar picture from Germany.

ive seen this on here before, it still makes me wonder how the hell you could do this without getting shocked or destroying a tool or 2... I'm imagining a $2.99 orange store 4-in-1 screwdriver wrapped up in a roll of 99¢ tape.
Is there anyone on board who knows how to fly a plane?

At first glance I'm thinking power theft. This wasn't a pf correcting capacitor for a huge motor was it?

I think in the German case it was temporary site power straight from the pillar on the street.

Is there any chance these don't have UL or CSA approval?

that's amazing ... not to mention the micro arcing going on within the strands they just derated, all it takes is a nick in the wire and the micro arc " hot spot " begins ...
