After the installation of a new product in Italy, we are being told that there is a technical detail that appears not in line with the official recommendation of the European Community.

The power line MUST be located at a minimum of 30 cm up from the floor.

Can anyone provide substantiation of the 30mm claim?

Providing the source would also be a big plus.

Sorry I can't answer that but you just mixed base units 30cm and 30mm
Maybe a bit more info from you too. What power line? the wiring to the receptacle? The receptacle? the cord to the product? All locations, residential , commercial, or Industrial?

Some additional information.

The product is conduit connected, and the concern is the internal hook up terminal block.

We did consider that this might be Italy only, but the notice included the reference to “the official recommendation of the European Community”.

There does appear to be an exception for products that are resistant to water ingress. Ours it not.

The number is 30cm. Commercial environment.

I can not give you a specification but I do remember from about 10 years ago, a product we manufactured was modified for use in Germany. One of the requirements was to move the power supply wiring up off of the floor by about a foot. We ended up moving the power components into another free standing cabinet. Our product was electromechanical inspection equipment. Check under the Laboratory equipment standards.
