All things permitting, I will be doing a Forum Upgrade sometime tonight. So, if you see a notice that the board is closed you will know what is going on.

Keep in mind that the Live Chat Area will be open as usual.

Is there a way that I can turn off the "topic preview" pop-up window that appears when my mouse hovers on the list of topics?
I know that it's probably useful, but I find it just a bit distracting.
I looked in 'preferences' and don't see anything there.

Thanks

ghost,

I thought the same thing when I first saw it. As far as I know there is no way to disable it on an individual basis. I hoped there would be.

Sometime in the near future there will (supposedly) be a new version that may be quite different. Maybe there will be more personal options.

I tried that. It's way more annoying than the previews. frown

I've got no preference for the previews if they can't be turned off. Maybe we should set up a Poll and let majority decide.

What do you think?
Would a bigger delay be a good compromise?

It'd be more useful if the preview was for the first unread post, and skipped quotes.

You're probably right, but I don't think that will be possible here.

The Forum used to keep track of unread posts, but it may have been slowing things down, so it was turned off.

Last year around this time we had comments about this preview too. I managed to set a short delay to the preview feature and it seemed to more acceptable.

I just realized ( blush) that modification was overwritten with the latest update and I've set a 1/2 sec. delay. (I don't remember what I did last time)

Any better now? Longer? Shorter?

let me know,

Bill

Since the text in the pop-up is the same as the text that's already on the 'active topics' page for the post I don't see any benefit to it.

Also, since the title of the item is pretty good at describing what it's about, I can't see any advantage in making it display the original post either.
