Well said Reno!!!

The occupants of the McMansions, driving the $$$ vehicles, can be the best (or worst) shoppers. Heck, ask a few of the legit landscapers around here!

Good points all, and ones that I was not succesful in getting across to the Dr. We will always be overpriced in the eyes of the ignorant. The one and only point I was trying to get through to him was that if he hires a handy man, or unlicensed contractor, even though they may or may not know the trade, if something goes wrong, all of the responsibility for it will fall on him. In addition, if people are injured or die as a result, then he will see the real cost. As electricians, we spend thousands of hours learning our trade, and it never stops. Electrical Contractors are businesses with very high overhead costs, and a tremendous responsibility for the safe operation of their installations. Anyhow, I enjoy reading the posts on this site, and learn something new everytime I come here. I just thought I would share this particular experience.

1) The costs associated with running a business;
2) The costs associated with your being readily available; and,
3) That they are paying for your training, experience, and judgement as well.

Good points.

I have family that was associated with health care.
the Dr. paid 160K (yes 160K) per year liability.
Then bills the insurance for X amount,insurance states they will only pay Y amount...the circle begins the rates get inflated so the Dr. can receive what the procedure was worth...

As I say... It all boils right down to the lawyers...

Sorry..Way OT.. I'll stop now. frown

Your OT sounds close to what my MD mentioned last visit. Liability/malpractice is outrageous, ins. co's are cutting payments, and he has NO love for lawyers...even thou his son is one.

When I was getting my pilot's license, my instructor quoted a statistic that Doctors have the highest rates of crashing; mostly because they never want to admit that someone else knows more or better than they do.

Remember the old joke:
What's the difference between God and a Doctor?
God doesn't think that he's a Doctor.

"I don't earn that, and I'm a Doctor!"

"I know, ain't it a stinker? That's why I gave up medicine to be an electrician!"
