WEnt to the DCA website to check on IF any news on the '08 adoption yet. Found out it is awaiting inclusion into the NJ Record. (April 6, 2009 effective date) Oddly, there is no effective 'start' date within the text; but they mention June xx, 2113 as an 'end' date. A listing of all those that commented on amendments, and the DCA responses is also posted. http://www.state.nj.us/dca/codesBTW: Center of page, 'rule adoption' gets you there (edit to add)

John,
Did you see my name there as one of the comment people? They don't believe that arc fault breakers will increase the cost of new house building by a lot of money. Yet in this tight economical times, you just have to wonder.

Harold: Guess we will see a lot of resi permits before the dro-dead date. We did here, jobs weren't even signed and guys were pulling permits. I heard rumors, 15-20% increase on dwellings with the AFCI,TR&WR. At least until they become main stream. After a year, the numbers here have come down, but still more than before.

Wait, in a couple of years it will be a code that everyone in the house will have to have personal GFI receptacles on the hip. ( In case you use a non GFI receptacle in a house.)Everyone will have to have miners caps with lights, so that you don't walk in the dark or bump your head. Plus you will need personal air bags in case you fall down. This way you won't get hurt!

Update: Adopted '08 NEC is published in the NJ Register as of 4/06/2009.
Drop dead date is October 6, 2009.
Option to use '08 anytime after 4/6/09, simply by writing '2008 NEC' on front of permit application.
This could be a blessing for the pool guys....if they know about it.
