Scary question of the day:
Are ground lugs (L-Lugs) UL listed to terminate line voltage conductors? How many transformers and busses have you landed line voltage conductors on using ground lugs? ........................................................ It's getting awful quit around here!!! All those trips back..........

Some manufacturers lugs are listed for use with continuous line voltage and some are for grounding only. They look the same. Be careful!

![[Linked Image]](https://www.electrical-contractor.net/forum/el/grd_lug.jpg) I don't remember ever using these for power.

Well, I have used "Normal" Lugs for Equipment Grounding purposes in Transformers, Gear and Panelboards - mostly because there will be a bunch of similar Lugs (i.e. "Box of misc. Lugs from the shop"), but more specifically, because of the need for multiple Landings.
I have dealt with Equipment using the Copper Lug in Electure's image above, for Line ("Power") Terminations. Lighting Contactors, some Motor Starters, and a few Control Panels used those Lugs.
Now, on the other hand, I don't see much of a use for Line ("Power") Terminations using the Lay-In-Lug also posted in Electure's message!
That one pretty much is a "Grounding-Only" Lug! (extremely useful on Grounding Bushings)

The box of miscellaneous lugs at the shop is where a potential problem lies. Lugs from grounding bushings and other grounding only lugs get mixed in with power rated lugs. It seems like he safest way to use lugs for power applications is to verify the rating when buying them. It's too much work to verify the rating on the lugs in the box at the shop. Some "normal" looking lugs may not be power rated.
HAPPY FATHERS DAY TO ALL YOU DADS!!!
