what about in you area, do the power company obtain electrical permits for work done on private property, such as security lights,roadway lighting system etc..?

In my area they don't(won't)work on private property.

Now thats a "gray" area....
Read somewhere that THEY are supposed to get a permit, and comply with the NEC is addition to the NESC.
Can't say I saw a permit posted by them...also can't say that they don't comply.
We had an issue with site lighting a while ago.
I know for a fact that THEY do get permits for replacement of furnaces and water heaters. (GAS COMPANIES)
Around here the 'lectric utility (PSE&G) is into "appliance repairs".
