What are the main differences between these two types of grips? Are there any advantages to using a Chicago grip as opposed to a parallel-jaw grip?
All I have been using for years to tug overhead lines is Klein’s parallel-jaw grips.

Thanks

I see now, after a little research, that the Chicago grips need to be manually set and locked in place with the toggle lever as opposed to parallel-jaw grips and similar Haven’s grips, which self-secure with a light reverse tension. I like the fact that the parallel-jaw clamps can be released easily and lowered to the ground, even from mid-span, with a slight forward nudge from a hot stick with a disconnect hook in the grips eyelet. For the type of work that I do, I think I will stick with the parallel clamps. smile
