I need some input from those with experience in hospital wiring. I have been asked to install some receptacles in the patient care rooms in the emergency room. The receptacles are for new computer interface equipment, and are to be installed on the wall aproximately six inches from the ceiling. They also want them on emergency / generator power. My question is whether the health care facility mc cable is adequate for the installation, or would emt be required?
Your choice- either would satisfy 517. They probably will need the redundant ground. I would look an see what the print calls out. Don't mean to be an educated donkey here but the plans have the last word.
George 517.30 C (3) refers you to 517.13A & 517.13 (B) But it also lists only 4 areas where Listed Flexable Metal raceways CAN be used. 517.30 C (3)(3)
Thanks guys. I had looked at both of those Code sections, but was still not exactly sure if I could sneak the HCF-mc in under 517.30(C)(3)(3)c. I am now looking for my handbook. There are no plans or drawings on this one, only a quick walk thru with we want one here and here, and I am supposed to remember the 18 or is it 19 locations. thanks again.
