Howdy 'Yall;
Gotta question which is non-Electrical to toss at the Inspectors, or anyone else who knows:
What is the Maximum depth for a Swimming Pool (how deep can the "Deep End" be), for a "typical" in-ground Swimming Pool at a Single-Family Dwelling?
If possible, maybe some could (also) lead me towards the applicable Code(s) which would contain such information, so I can reference Article(s).
BTW: If State specific, California would be location where the Pool / 1 Family Dwelling will be (Southern California, but not in LA or San Diego Counties).
TIA!!!

Good morning Scott.
I looked through apendix "G" of the 2000 IRC, but it doesn't address depth. I also looked in chapter 31 of the IBC, but it is silent as well. I know that here in Utah the state health department has regulations governing pools, such as a minimum depth before diving boards are installed. You might want to try your state board of health.
Sorry...I wish I had more for you.

Scott, I checked the 2001 Calif. Bldg Code and nothing is stated for maximum depths. The minimum depths for pools with diving boards is listed for public pools. The swimming pool info in Chapter 31B of the CBC.

We're the cutting edge (read "bad") Californians. Our building Codes are still based on the UBC, I believe. The IRC hasn't been adopted...S

I forgot all about this thread!!! Thanks to all for replying. Next trips to Building Departments, I'll check the Code Compliance literature displays / kiosks for something related to this issue. BTW; thanks Scott (Electure) - I didn't even think of this!!! <D'OHHH!!!> Scott35
