As an electrician friend of mine described it "excess power is put into the ground rather than returning it to the national grid (via the negative cable)". Bzzzz. WRONG! You lose 10 points! I didn't know you still had DC supplies down there either. Most equipment made in Asia has twin flex and no earth. By adding a separate earth wire (soldered for example to the outside lug of an RCA plug) we get a significant improvement in sound. Well, it can help reduce hum and other interference, so we're getting somewhere now. The earth cable is directional so try it both ways (take a walk on the wild side). Cable that is directioned correctly will sound ‘faster’... ignore all other aspects. Oh dear. Now he's gone and spoiled it. I wonder where can I buy some of that fast cable?

How does wire "sound faster"? And i've never heard of wire being "one way". If that were the case, it would be impossible to back-feed an extension cord from the female end! Audio-tom-foolery.

Oooohhh....what a strange, strange place.... I see colours...like washes of pink and blue and gold...I see big circles of light moving across the sky.....all the colours of the rainbow....big bold blues and whites now...the light seems to be getting brighter... I hear eerie noises....like...like ghosts all mumuring softly....no... No! WAIT!! It's....it's more than that even! It's an electrician...but I con't....quite....hear.....he's saying something like..... ..wait.....shhhhh.......Oh! he's saying "I ******* told you so!!!" So here we go kiddies... and remember all work needs checking with an electrician.
Oh..so that's it!! [This message has been edited by uksparky (edited 11-16-2004).]

Here's the clincher: Allow up to 5 weeks for the sound to keep improving. Yeah right. This is a pyschological trick. Wait several weeks and try to convince yourself that it sounds better now than it did before.

It might sound even better with a few shots of 190 proof grain alcohol.

Loads of people will be taken-in by that kind of rubbish though.
Gold plated power cables and other nonsence.
Earthing a sound system by hooking an earth rod up to the side of an RCA port would possibily just introduce interference.
Btw.. speaking of earthing...
I noticed in the USA that many appliences that would be earthed in Europe wern't over there.
E.g. Irons, toasters etc... all seemed to have 2 pin moulded plugs.
Seems unusual for appliences with large metal surfaces.

Someone had to say it I suppose: You certainly have gone to some trouble to raise your cables off the floor, with a creation of wood and nylon. I don’t think that in itself makes you crazy. To put it another way if the product was marketable, then you would simply be part of a boutique industry that seems to make quite a lot of money out of those of us who seek the Holy Grail of perfect sound. People who do not seek this Holy Grail think we are crazy in the sense of being odd, obsessional and some kind of geek. Thank God this guy is only a Psychologist, and not an electronics salesman, I'd hate to buy Audio gear at his store.

And, of course, audio gear sounds MUCH better when plugged into those "hospital grade" receptacles; maybe if one is under ethyl ether anaesthetic!!!
No wire bias here- I'm standing on neutral ground.
