Only 7 hours to go here in England! The revelers will soon be crowding into London's Trafalgar Square, ready to jump in the fountains at midnight.

I'm content to just stay home and say hello to 2004 rather more quietly.

What will be happening in your countries?

Happy New Year to everyone, and all the best for a peaceful and prosperous 2004. [Linked Image]

Hey,
Happy New Year there, Paul!. [Linked Image]
It's 0730 on New Years day here.
I was on call last night, so there was no partying for me.
Had to go and pull the Mains fuse on a house last night, where the people had the stereo turned way up and locked all the doors in the house.
The police and the neighbours were sick of the noise, so off went the stereo, the lights, everything!.
This was at 0200 this morning, but apart from that, I think that it was pretty quiet over here, no drunken riots for a change.
Anyone make any New Years resolutions last night?.
I gave up making them years ago. [Linked Image]
I don't go back to work until Monday, so I'm just going to sit back and put my feet up, until then, I think.
Take care everyone. [Linked Image]

3 hours to go over here, happy new year to all those that are already in, and to those that are ready to slide in!

New York's Times Square will be looking like a police state -- snipers on top of buildings, cattle pens, metal detectors.

Really sick and disturbing to me.

I've always wanted to go there, but lately it doesn't seem fun anymore. The crowds don't bother me. It's the "security." [Linked Image]

I'd rather be at home.

Trumpy, did anyone come out after you pulled their fuse or were they probably so stoned they didn't notice? [Linked Image]

Sven,
Everything went quiet, after the fuse was removed, much to the relief of most of the street.
If anyone had have emerged from the building, they probably would have been arrested.
But everybody just went back to bed, me included.
How you can run a stereo at that volume for 6-7 hours and not burn out the power amp, is beyond me.
The fuse is still in the back of my truck and I'll be going to put it back in later today, when hopefully everyone has "come down" after thier little party. [Linked Image]
Sven, in your last posting, you mentioned "Cattle pens?", I thought that New York City was zoned Urban, not Rural! [Linked Image]

I just started a New Years' thread over in the General section thinking I was first this year. Ah, behind again ... [Linked Image]

Not much exciting for me this year, just some relaxing with friends.

Happy New Years to all!

P.S.

Here's a link to info on Celebration in Times Square New York City. The Ball Fact Sheet has some interesting info and a PDF file showing some construction specs:
