Today de.sci.ing.elektrotechnik disappeared. Yesterday in the late evening I checked in there the last time, today in the morning it was gone. It could be just a google problem (I access news via Google Groups) but it could also be the group has gone offline. If that is true, it would be a really sad thing.
Stay tuned for news!

Google, seem to have removed a lot of NG's, including swnet.teknik.elektronik

I have no idea why. Unlike websites, newsgroups can't go down. What has happened is that Google has removed the newsgroups from their server. The NGs will still be accessible from other servers.

Bloody idiots. Now I can't access that group any more until I've found another free news server.
There was some hassle there some days ago, people talking about a massive spam attack having originated there, so maybe that's the reason. However, I'm pretty angry google removed it without any warning.

YIKES!

I hope that rec.antiques.radio+phono is also not gone!!!!

Just checked....it still seems to be there.

Hey, wait a minute! Didn't Google actually BUY the archive tapes of all these newsgroups -- that's how they're able to keep the back-posts from like 1995 still on-line?

I hope they didn't also destroy these archives.

Would contacting these people be of any help?

Wait a second. Ragnar, what are you using to access the groups via google?

I just went to http://groups.google.com and typed in the name of de.sci.ing.elektrotechnik and there it was -- with the latest posts being from 27 Sept. 03

See here: http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=...TF-8&group=de.sci.ing.elektrotechnik

Yeah, now it works again. Phew! Though it still seems to have slight problems, it refused to some threads, I had to try it several times.

There are so many interesting groups out there.

Could we please hold a referendum on increasing the number of hours in a day to 48? [Linked Image]
