I tried a new(at least to me)method of pulling in EMT yesterday. I had a 150' run of 2" EMT that I had to pull (3) 1/0 and a #2 THHN through with 3 90º turns. I had already pulled a 5/16" rope in to pull the conductors with. I bought a 2"x4"x8" sponge at the hardware store and cut into 2" strips. I loop-knotted the pulling rope about 2' and again at 4' from the pulling head and tied the pieces of the sponge in. I then gooped about a quart of Yellow 77 into the conduit. We pulled/pushed the whole run by hand in about 10 minutes! The first sponge came out the end black and the second one came out dragging about a 1/2 pint of the 77. It was the easiest 3/0 pull I have ever done and the least messy. I know I'm not the first one to do this but I don't remember seeing it here before and thought it was worth sharing.
