I'd like to purchase two or three security cameras for our residence and have the ability for my wife and I to go online and monitor while we are at our respective work place computers. Is there such a simple system? Is it expensive? We tried to purchase from this website http://www.x10.com/ and it didn't work out to well. We are going to return the merchandise and start all over.

If you don't have DSL or Cable I don't beleive it will work well with any manufacturer.
Are you using a modem 56k or less?

ther is equipment available from most of the larger security equipment suppliers that is a video system capture card, this card fits into your PC load the software, connect the cameras directly to the capture card on the PC and with your ID code set up you should be able to monitor the system from werever you are in the world,
i will try to find out a bit more and post it soon.
