I found this tool in Family Handyman magazine a while back. It snaps on the side of a switch box and you can dial in the depth setting for 3/8 to 1.5 wall thicknesses. I just used it on a job with double sheetrock and it worked great.
The web-site is www.vcannelli.com
Just thought I would share it with you guys..
Good luck..

Joe,

Looks like a Handy thing to have!
Can you slip it on the box or do you have to tighten something?

Its a clever design with spring loaded plungers that grip the wall of the box for quick snap-on snap off action..
