Is there a comprehensive font set available for electrical estimating fonts and symbols that can be used with Word and Excel?

0501,
Excel has some impresive drawing tools built in. Try them out by drawing them yourself. Hope this helps.

Hi.

There is a "freeware" font commonly available on the 'net. (TrueType, Windows)

It's called "Carr Electronic Dingbats."

Try one of these links from Google:
http://www.google.com/search?q=%22carr+electronic+dingbats%22

Hope that helps some.

0501,

What fonts are you looking for in particular?

Since you have MS Word and Excel, these apps will come with lots of fonts. Most will be installed with the program, others need to be installed manually.
Use the Windows Character Map to view the available fonts plus the "Alt+0000" or "Control" codes for certain characters under different typesets [font names / styles]. Character Map can be found in the System Tools / Accessories folder (Start / Programs / Accessories / System Tools / Character Map).
If it's not installed (Can't find it in the Accessories folder), get your Windows 9X (95, 98 or Me) CD-ROM - and do this:

[*]Place the CD-ROM into the appropriate drive. Do not cut it to make it fit into the floppy disk drive (joke). Press and hold down the Shift key while closing the drive. This keeps the Autorun from Autorunning,

[*]Go to the Control Panel (Start / Settings / Control Panel) and select Add or Remove Programs,

[*]Under the Windows Setup tab, select Accessories, then Character Map,

[*]Follow the directions Windows tosses at you.

If you do not find anything useful, there's gazillions of freeware sites with 10^6 gazillion fonts, or try the ECN stores [which would give better results with fewer of the "Oh, Let's Check Out These Funky Fonts" types of off track cyber searches we are all familiar with!].

Good luck
